Energy payment support scheme

Rising energy prices may be affecting you, or your ability to pay energy bills, especially if you have a low-income.

Energy payment support scheme

Payments were made to individuals through existing benefit payment channels from 11 March 2022.

If you did not receive a payment by 28 March 2022 and think you were eligible, please contact the relevant benefit office in the payments information below. 

If you think you were eligible but did not receive your payment, it is important to make your enquiry before 31 May 2022.

The energy payment support scheme has been put in place to support those most affected by rising energy prices.

One-off payments of £200 were made automatically if you were eligible from 11 March 2022.

Eligibility

You were eligible for this payment if, during the qualifying week from Monday 13 December to Sunday 19 December 2021 inclusive, you were resident in Northern Ireland and you were in receipt of payments from one or more of the following benefits:
 

  • Pension Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance 
  • Income Support

Individuals living in care homes from 13 December to 19 December 2021 inclusive were not eligible for this payment.

Individuals in receipt of payment of contribution based Employment Support Allowance only or contribution based Jobseekers Allowance only are not eligible for this payment.

You may be eligible for Discretionary Support or the Universal Credit contingency fund.  To check any other benefits, services or support you may be entitled to you can contact Make the Call.

Payments

One-off payments of £200 were made automatically if you were eligible from 11 March 2022 through your normal benefit payment channel.

This payment will have no impact on your benefit entitlement.
