There are waymarked walking trails leading away from the car park that take in the Rossinure promontory with its views over Lough Erne and the remains of Castle Caldwell. The castle is not currently accessible for safety reasons.
There is a jetty beside the car park which accommodates visitors cruising on Lough Erne.
Occasionally there may be restricted access to parts of the forest due to forest operations so pay attention to safety advice on signage.
About this forest
The main part of the forest is based on two promontories jutting out onto the lough. This is an important conservation forest with good ancient woodland indicators. Conifers and other non-native species will be gradually removed from Rossmore and Rossinure to revert to native woodland.
This forest, which includes a number of small islands, is a bird sanctuary and monitored under agreement with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
How to get there
The car park is accessible from the A47 Belleek to Kesh road, four miles from Belleek.
