Taxi driver periodic training

Drivers renewing a taxi driver’s licence must show that they have completed the required amount of taxi driver periodic training.

Periodic training

The training must have been delivered by a training provider authorised by the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) for this purpose and at least 3.5 hours must have been Disability Awareness training.

Remote training

Both classroom-based and in-cab driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) training and classroom-based Taxi Driver Periodic Training (TDPT) have now resumed in Northern Ireland.

DVA still encourages periodic training to be delivered remotely where possible, to help restrict the spread of the virus. However, where necessary, classroom based periodic training can take place providing the latest Public Health Agency (PHA) and government guidance is adhered to.

Details of all taxi driver periodic training courses that have been authorised by DVA are on the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) website.

How to find training courses

Only approved courses taken at approved training centres will count towards periodic training. It will be up to you to decide which courses to go to.

Further details on courses and how to apply can be found on the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) website.
