Forest recreation charges

These are charges for using extra facilities within certain forests. Charges apply to vehicles, visitors and to some activities and organised events. Details of concessions for charities and community groups are also included, as well as prices for camping and touring vehicles.

Camping and touring online booking

You can now check camping and touring costs online. You can also check availability or book online by the following links:

2023/24 daily forest charges

Charges should be paid on entry to the following forests.

Florence Court Forest Park falls under the charging policy of the National Trust.

Gosford Forest Park falls under the charging policy of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.

Gortin Glen Forest Park falls under the charging policy of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council

Castlewellan Forest Park falls under the charging policy of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council

Pedestrian charges

In general, pedestrians will not be charged for access to forests, unless there are good reasons to do so.

If charges apply, it will be £2.00 per adult and £1.00 per child.

Other charges

Charges for particular activities in forests, including annual permits for cars, minibuses and 'Touring in the Trees'.

2023/24 permits for cars and motorcycles, and minibuses are valid until 31 March 2024.

Organised events

Minimum fee of £140 for licensed events.
Further staff costs will be charged at £80 per half day.  Contact Forest Service to discuss.

 
Filming Commercial rates will apply. These will be agreed before filming takes place.  Contact Forest Service to discuss.  

Permits for vehicles and activities

Concessions for charities and community groups

More than two visits 50 per cent of the normal charge

*Where the cost to Forest Service is less than £50.00 per occasion and the activity is consistent with the management of the forest.

Group visits using the discounted price must be pre-booked at least 24 hours before arrival or paid in full when you arrive at the forest.

2023 camping and touring opening dates

  • Tollymore - 01 January 2023 to 31 December 2023
  • Drum Manor - 15 March 2023 to 05 November 2023
  • Glenariff - 15 March 2023 to 05 November 2023

On main stay camping sites, where more than four adults share one tent, a further charge of £3.00 per person will apply.

There are no facilities for tents at the Glenariff Forest Park caravan site.

Basic camping sites for organised youth groups

The following charges apply for groups using youth sites:

  • £4.00 per person
  • a non-refundable deposit of £20.00 is needed per group booking
