Forest recreation charges

These are charges for using additional facilities within certain forests. Charges apply to vehicles, visitors and to some activities and organised events. Details of concessions for charities and community groups are also included, as well as prices for caravanning and camping.

2017 daily forest charges

Charges should be paid on entry to forests. Chip and pin payment facilities are available at some forest parks and main forest offices.

Pedestrian charges

In general, pedestrians will not be charged for access to forests, unless there are compelling reasons to do so.

If charges apply, it will be £2.00 per adult and £1.00 per child.

Other charges

Charges for particular activities in forests, including annual permits for cars, minibuses and 'Touring in the Trees'.

From 1 January 2017 annual permits will run by calendar year, that is expire 31 December 2017. Customers in possession of a permit bought in 2016 that has an expiry date in 2017 and who wish to renew for the remainder of 2017 will pay an adjusted amount dependent on the number of months remaining in the year.

The fee is normally set to recover the cost of the service provided. Contact your local forest office to discuss requirements.

Low season  

Facilities are open in low season only when there is enough demand. The following charges will apply:

On main stay camping sites, where more than four adults share one tent, an additional charge of £3.00 per person will apply.

There are no facilities for tents at the Glenariff Forest Park caravan site.

Bookings for caravan and camping sites must be arranged and paid for beforehand by contacting the relevant Forest Office.

Basic camping sites for organised youth groups

The following charges apply for groups using youth sites:
