Digital Skills Academy with Version 1
If you're interested in a career in Digital Services, training opportunities are now available.
Candidates selected to join the programme will receive cutting-edge training on the latest technologies. This Digital Skills Academy helps you develop your IT skillsets, earn industry-recognised certifications and have the opportunity to work within Version 1.
Training
There will be two Digital Skills Academies with Version 1 which will be delivered simultaneously. Both Academies are fully funded by the Department for the Economy and delivered in partnership with Belfast Metropolitan College (BMC).
Each academy is an eight-week intensive training course, delivered through a mix of onsite learning at a BMC campus and virtually. Each academy will prepare you for an Associate Consultant position, working in Software Development and Service Desk areas of the business.
If selected for one of the academies, you'll receive training in:
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
- Cisco
- Java
- human insights
- Agile/ project management
- business and Green Skills
- software testing
Those taking part will get a weekly training allowance of £180 for the length of the Academy, as well as help with travelling and childcare costs where people qualify.
If you successfully finish the training, you'll be guaranteed a job interview with Version 1. However, successfully finishing either academy is not a guarantee of gaining employment.
Who can apply
No previous experience is required, however at the point of application, you must:
- be at least 18 years old
- have a university degree classification of 2:2 in any discipline or a Level 5 qualification in a STEM subject
- have the right to work and to undertake Assured Skills training in the UK and not be disqualified from doing either by reason of immigration status
- be eligible for UK Security Clearance
- should you be successful and gain employment with Version 1 you will be working on some exciting customer projects and you will be asked to apply for security clearance

- have resided in UK for the last five years and have proof of travel during that time for 30 days or more
- have appropriate IT access to link to the online tuition
If a large number of applications are received, Version 1 reserve the right to enhance the minimum criteria, if necessary, to generate a manageable shortlist for interviews.

Closing date
Completed applications must be returned by 12.00 pm (UK time) on Friday 14 November 2025.
Selection process
The selection process comprises an online interview and an in-person assessment day.
Interview dates
Interviews will be held between 25 November 2025 and 2 December 2025.
Assessment day
The assessment day will be held on 8 and 9 December 2025, with successful candidates being offered a place on the Academy.
Information session
An information session for successful applicants will be held on 24 November 2025, with the opportunity to meet representatives from the Department for the Economy, Version 1 and Belfast Metropolitan College.
Training dates
Training will start on 19 January 2026 and finish on 13 March 2026.
Training for the second academy will commence on 2 February 2026 and finish on 27 March 2026.
Applicants must be available for the entire length of the training period.
