Northern Ireland MMR catch-up campaign
Due to the increase in measles cases in the UK and Europe an MMR catch-up campaign is now available. If you missed any doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, find out how to get the vaccine.
MMR vaccine catch-up: who is eligible
First and second doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine are being offered to anyone aged between 12 months and 25 years who missed getting the vaccines first time around.
If you have never received any doses of MMR vaccine, you should book early to allow one month between dose one and dose two.
The following groups are eligible in this catch-up campaign:
- children aged 12 months up to and including five years of age
- children and adults aged six years up to and including 25 years of age
If you are pregnant or think you could be pregnant, you cannot get vaccinated at this time. Contact your GP or midwife after you have had your baby.
Where to get the MMR vaccine
Children aged 12 months up to and including five years
GPs will be running catch-up vaccinations for children aged 12 months up to and including five years (anyone with a date of birth between 1 April 2018 to 1 December 2022), who have missed their vaccines as part of the routine schedule.
Your GP will contact you if your child is identified as needing one or two doses of the MMR vaccine.
However, contact your health visitor or GP if you think your child may be eligible and you have not heard from your GP practice.
Children and adults aged six years up to and including 25 years of age
Health and Social Care Trusts are running an MMR vaccine catch-up campaign for those aged six up to and including 25 years of age (anyone with a date of birth between 31 March 2018 to 1 April 1998).
You will receive information if you are in this age group and have not received two doses of MMR.
If you are in this age group and think you may need an MMR you can get the vaccines at your local MMR vaccine clinic at the links below. You can make an appointment or just turn up. You do not need to wait to receive a letter.
