LPS offices

There are five Land & Property Services (LPS) offices where you can search land and property information. You can get help to search Land Registry or leave in a cheque payment for your rate bill. You must have an appointment to visit if you wish to search the Land Registry.

Making an appointment

Visits to LPS offices are by appointment only.  You should make an appointment if you want to search Land Registry records so LPS can make sure a computer is available for your search.

LPS have a limited rates appointments service for customers who need extra support like interpretation services.

To make an appointment, you need to fill in an online form.

You will need to tell LPS

  • your contact details
  • details of the relevant property or properties
  • what information you need
  • the dates and times you are available to visit

LPS will contact you to confirm your appointment.  If you need help to fill out the online form, you can call LPS offices on 0300 200 7801 and staff can complete the form on your behalf.

Land and property registries

There is a different search process and list of fees for each register.

  • Searching Land Registry
  • Searching the Registry of deeds
  • Statutory Charges Register

If you don't know the folio number or memorial number for land, you can find this by visiting the Belfast office.

Registry of deeds searches for records before 1990 are paper-based and can only be carried out in the LPS Belfast office. You should also visit Belfast office for any queries about the Statutory Charges Register.

At out other offices, you can carry out simple Land Registry searches and searches of electronic Registry of deeds records after 1990. You must be able to identify the relevant property that you wish to search by bringing the relevant folio number to appointments booked outside of Belfast. In some cases, you may need a map posted from the Belfast office to your home.
