Tyre Fitting and Maintenance Assured Skills Academy
If you’re interested in a career in Tyre Fitting and Maintenance, 15 training opportunities are currently available. If you successfully finish the Assured Skills Academy, you will have industry recognised qualifications, supervised experience and be considered for a potential job role with one of the supporting companies.
Training
The Tyre Fitting and Maintenance Assured Skills Academy is an intensive three-week training course providing practical knowledge and real-world experience required to work in the sector.
The course will be delivered in person, supported by guest speakers and facilitated site visits to employment settings.
Those selected for the academy will study IMI Level 2 Unit Accreditation training modules:
- health and safety
- chassis systems
The academy training will develop sector relevant skills including changing brake pads and discs, track rod ends/ steering arms, shock absorbers and suspension components.
The academy will allow participants to apply their learning in real-world settings. The academy will provide a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and real-world experience required for effective practice within the sector.
Training allowance
Those taking part in the academy will receive a weekly training allowance of £185 for the length of the academy, as well as help with travelling and childcare expenses where people qualify.
Successful participants will be guaranteed a job interview with a supporting company.
However, an interview is not a guarantee of a job.
Offers of employment will be at the discretion of the companies following the interview.
Those who successfully finish Assured Skills Academies are guaranteed a job interview with the participating company.
Applicants should take note that the job roles available are not eligible for skilled worker sponsorship.
Who can apply
Applicants must:
- be at least 18 years old
- have a right to work and to undertake Assured Skills Training in the UK at the point of application
- not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status
Whilst there is no minimum level of qualifications required to apply for the academy, preference will be given to applicants with Level 1 or higher English and Maths - equivalent to GCSE grades D-G.

Key dates
Information session and interview dates
Northern Regional College (NRC) will invite eligible applicants to an information session and interview that will take place week beginning Monday 25 May 2026.
Training dates
Training will take place from Monday 8 June to Friday 26 June 2026 at NRCs Ballymena campus.
Training hours are from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm every weekday.
Successful applicants must be available for the whole training period.
