    Food team leading

    This pathway is designed for those who are working in a food supply chain environment.

    It offers the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge required to prove competence at work in supervisory management and team leading roles.

    The pathway provides food manufacturers and supply chain businesses with a unique blend of business management competencies with technical food management competencies set in a food business context.

    Those taking this pathway will cover a range of areas within food supply chain contexts, such as manufacture, logistics, retail. These include:

    • food management and improvement of team performance
    • management and improvement of technical controls
    • quality assurance
    • deployment of business systems

    As an apprentice you'll gain the following transversal skills:

    Progression

    After you complete this framework, you have a number of progression options including:

    • into employment, for example, as a butcher, baker, fishmonger or food and drink process operator
    • direct career progression into the relevant pathway within the level 3 apprenticeship in food and drink or other pathway suitable to the apprentice's role and career plans
    • development into a different role at the same level or higher

    Review

    It is anticipated that the framework will be subject to further, in-depth, reviews within the next three years.

    National occupational standards (NOS)

    Every framework must be underpinned by national occupational standards (NOS) which will indicate the standards of performance individuals must achieve when carrying out functions in the workplace, together with specifications of the underpinning knowledge and understanding.

    Behaviours may be detailed within or alongside the NOS.

    Pathways can be displayed by splitting NOS into core and optional depending on the occupational profile.
