Documents you need

To fish legally in Northern Ireland you'll need to buy:

  • a permit or day ticket and
  • a rod licence

A permit or day ticket gives you permission to fish in a particular fishery while a rod licence is for the fishing rod and the game or coarse fish you're allowed to catch. You cannot buy a permit or day ticket without a rod licence.

Buy a local season permit and rod licence

Anglers can buy a local season permit and rod licence online below or from a distributor (like tackle shops). When buying your local season permit you must choose one of the areas listed above for example: Fermanagh local fisheries.

Read the Conditions of Sale for fishing licences and permits before buying:

  • Buy rod licences and permits including River Bush day tickets
  • Angling licence and permit distributors
