Change your MOT/ vehicle test appointment to another date.
Before you start
Due to restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid 19, a number of the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) services are currently unavailable. For more details and the latest position on the DVA service availability visit the Coronavirus (Covid 19) and motoring page.
Your appointment notice will tell you the last day you must do this by. If you change your appointment by this date, the payment you've already made is carried over to the new date.
The last day you can change and rebook your appointment and have the payment you've already made carried over to the new date, is in the table below under 'Additional information'.
When changing and rebooking your MOT/ vehicle test appointment you will need the following which can be found on your appointment letter:
- the booking reference number
- the vehicle registration number or trailer ID number
- the last four digits of the chassis number
You can find out how any personal information you send to the Department for Infrastructure (Driver and Vehicle Agency) when using this service will be handled by viewing their privacy notice
If you’re a company that has a local arrangement with a DVA test centre, you will need to log into the service and enter your details to book your appointments. You only need to log into the service if you’re a large vehicle or large driving school operator that has signed an agreement with the DVA.

If the date of your test is close to a public or bank holiday, the above 'last cancellation date' does not apply. The bank/ public holiday should be counted as an additional day for rebooking your test.
