Apply for or renew a Blue Badge online

This online service is for individual applicants and support organisations in Northern Ireland.

Before you start

The application process 

The Blue Badge Unit recommend that where possible applicants should apply online. 

You can still use the hard copy application if you choose but there may be some delays with postal applications that are beyond their control.

You should be told the outcome of applications within six to eight weeks from the date of receipt.

However, if more information to support your application is needed it may take longer to tell you of the outcome.

Before you apply

Before you apply, find out if you meet the Blue Badge eligibility criteria in Northern Ireland.

Note: This service is for Northern Ireland only.  If you live in England, Wales and Scotland there are different ways to apply as follows:

  • England or Wales
  • Scotland

Individual applicants

You will need to give your name, address, date of birth and town of birth. You will also need your National Insurance number and a valid contact number.

You will need to upload:

  • a digital copy of evidence to prove eligibility, for example, a letter of award or entitlement, or supporting medical evidence - maximum file size 5MB​
  • a recent colour passport-type photograph (head and shoulders) of the applicant - maximum file size 5MB​
  • What you need to send with your application

Support organisations

You will need to give the organisation’s name, address, contact details and the approximate number of people with disabilities in the organisation.

You will also need to enter the type of vehicle and registration number for each vehicle you are registering.

If you would like the organisation’s logo printed on the Blue Badge, you will need to upload this – maximum file size 5MB.

Online payment

A Blue Badge costs £10.00. Support organisations will be charged £10.00 for each vehicle they register. 

You can pay by using one of the following card types:

  • Visa credit card
  • Visa debit card
  • Visa electron card
  • Mastercard credit card
  • Mastercard debit card
  • Maestro/solo card

You must finish your application in one session. There is no time limit but applications will 'time out' after 15 minutes of inactivity.
