Travelling with your pets
When travelling with your dog, cat, ferret or assistance dog, the rules you must follow depend on the country you're going to or coming from.
If you live in Northern Ireland
If you live in Northern Ireland, you do not need a Pet Travel Document (PTD) when travelling with your dog, cat, ferret or assistance dog to or back from Great Britain to Northern Ireland.
Your pet must be microchipped.
If you're travelling into Northern Ireland from Great Britain
If you live in Great Britain (England, Scotland or Wales) you can bring your dog, cat, ferret or assistance dog into Northern Ireland under the Northern Ireland Pet Travel Scheme.
You need a free Northern Ireland Pet Travel Document.
