Coronavirus (COVID-19): COVID certificate for NI residents
The Department of Health has introduced an automated method for NI citizens who have received both their COVID-19 vaccinations in Northern Ireland to apply for COVID vaccination certification. You should not make any travel arrangements without making sure you have a valid certificate.
The NI COVID Certification Service is experiencing extremely high levels of demand - apologies for any inconvenience.
The phone service is also extremely busy and is only for people who cannot apply online. It is not a helpline and cannot respond to queries about applications made online, including questions about identity verification.
If you phone and get a recorded message, the call will end after it has finished to prevent a lengthy wait for an available operator.
You should fully read the guidance on this page to check that everything has been correctly completed.
For queries about your identity check, email firstname.lastname@example.org and for queries about your certificate, email email@example.com. Include your date of travel in the subject line.
The NI COVID certification service asks for your patience as it is dealing with a large number of emails, and you will be responded to.
If you’re travelling abroad within the next three months, you can now register for a COVID certificate. The QR code and downloadable certificate will permit international travel (where certification is required).
The first process will involve proof of identity. If your application is not processed automatically the NI COVID Certification Service will email you directly when your application has been successfully processed, telling you when you can download your certificate online or via the app.
The NI COVID certificate is only valid for three months from the date of application.
The COVIDCertNI App is available to download and can be used to help you request a certificate.

Request a paper certificate
If you cannot apply online, you can request a paper version using the telephone service 0300 200 7814, available Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm.
This is an application support line. Call handlers will not be able to provide advice on entry requirements to specific destinations or check the detail of your vaccination records.
This process will take longer than the digital process and you will be required to verify your identity in person by presenting documentation at an appointed time and location.
Once identity checks have been completed it may take up to 10 working days for the printed certificate to arrive.
Rules on travel
You must still adhere to the testing and isolation requirements (if appropriate) on your return to Northern Ireland and the latest travel advice for the country you’re travelling to.
