Strangford ferry timetable

Below you can find details of when the Strangford Lough ferry sails between Portaferry and Strangford in County Down. The ferry sails every day of the year, except Christmas Day.

Due to a refit of the MV Portaferry II ferry, the smaller MV Strangford vessel will be in service from Monday 2 November for approximately six to eight weeks. This may result in delays during busy periods.
A HGV temporary weight restriction of 7.5 tonnes will be in operation during this time.
For the duration of the refit only, there will be one additional sailing from Portaferry at 7.15 am (Monday to Friday).
TransportNI apologises for any inconvenience caused by this essential maintenance work.

SMS text message alert service

Passengers can register to receive SMS alerts about delays and service suspensions and so on. Simply:

  • Text 'FERRY' to 66101 to register
  • Text 'STOP' to 66101 to stop

Receiving SMS alerts is free when in the UK. Registration / Stop text are charged at your network operator’s standard rate.
