Slieve Gullion Forest Park
This forest is mostly conifer woodland on the side of a steeply rising mountain within the Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Find out what you can do there.
Activities
Recreation facilities are in the main area of the forest park. These include a car park, café, public toilets and a grassed area with picnic tables and bench seats. All these facilities are managed by 'Newry, Mourne and Down District Council'.
There are also walking trails and a tarmac scenic drive. In winter it's sometimes necessary for the drive to be closed due to snow and ice. Find out more about the things you can do at Ring of Guillion.
Pay attention to safety signage that is erected during forestry work operations.

How to get there
Travelling from Newry, turn off the A1 Newry by-pass and follow the B113 Forkhill Road. Travelling towards Forkhill, the forest is clearly visible on the hillside overlooking the main road.
Just over a mile past Meigh Crossroads, the tarmac entrance drive to the forest park is signposted to the right hand side on a left bend in the road.
Tree disease
Tree felling has been carried out at Slieve Gullion Forest to help control the spread of P.ramorum. Some work is still to be finished and this may sometimes affect public access. Signs giving advance warning will be placed at key access points.
Visitors are asked to pay attention to information signs on bio-security measures needed to help prevent the spread of tree disease.
