OSNI Fusion
OSNI Fusion is a vector product, a digital representation of topographic map features, for Northern Ireland and replaces OSNI Large-scale.
OSNI Fusion is a seamless, polygonised dataset with a more intuitive structure that provides data in layers based on real-world features. It also contains life cycle information and unique identifiers for each feature, which can be used to link other datasets to the mapping.
Key Features
- The topographical data model and structure allows interactive access to information on features and makes Fusion suitable for a wide range of spatial queries
- 3 themed topographical features of Land Parcels, Transport Casings, and Water Polygons form a complete coverage of Northern Ireland
- 9 themed features – Buildings, Ground Cover, Grid Extent, Land Intertidal Sea, Legacy Features, Perimeter, Structures, Text, and Transport Network – provide additional real-world topographical details
- Each feature has a unique 36 character ‘Fusion ID’ which is a globally unique identifier (GUID)
- Each feature has life cycle information like the start of life and change date
- Additional information is stored for each feature like the types of buildings
- Other vector, raster, and address data can be used to increase functionality for example vector mapping can be overlaid with orthophotography using suitable software
