SRC Welding Academy
If you’re interested in a career as a welder, 12 training opportunities are currently available. If you successfully complete the academy, you’ll gain an industry recognised welding qualification and be considered for a potential job role with one of the participating companies.
This pre-employment Welding Academy is a seven week intensive training course to prepare you for a job role in the engineering and manufacturing sector under the Assured Skills Programme. Training will be delivered by Southern Regional College (SRC) at the Armagh Campus and those selected for the Academy will study Level 2 City and Guilds Awards in MIG Welding Skills.
If you successfully complete the course, you'll be guaranteed a job interview with a participating company.
Who can apply
- be at least 18 years old by Monday 22 November 2021
- be eligible to work in the UK
This opportunity is not open to anyone currently employed within the manufacturing and engineering sector.
If in full-time employment – by accepting this offer of a place on this pre-employment training Academy, you are committing to pursuing a job opportunity with at least one of the employers supporting the Academy.
This Academy is not available as an up-skilling opportunity to anyone currently employed (including as an apprentice) planning to return to that employment after the completion of this Academy.
How to apply
Apply online at SRC Welding Academy by 12.00 noon on Friday 29 October 2021.
A selection day comprising of an information session and a short interview is planned and applicants will be contacted directly with regards to timings.
Successful applicants will attend five weeks at the Armagh Campus and two weeks workplace consolidation training with one of the participating employers as follows:
- Monday 22 November 2021 to Friday 7 January 2022* - college
- Monday 10 January 2022 to Friday 21 January 2022* - consolidation training
*These dates may be changed or cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
