Ordnance Survey Maps - Practical Workshop at PRONI

PRONI would like to invite you to a practical workshop on using historical Ordnance Survey maps.  This event will take place at PRONI on Friday 11 October 2019 at 11.00 am.

Ordnance Survey Map of Greyabbey

Ordnance Survey maps workshop

In the early nineteenth century, the Ordnance Survey of Ireland (OS) completed the first ever large-scale survey of an entire country.  PRONI holds the original OS archive for the six counties of present day Northern Ireland, including manuscript maps, field sketches and name books.

Join PRONI for this workshop to find out more about this valuable resource for local studies.  You'll use original manuscripts from the OS archive to discover what information has been preserved in the lines drawn on each map.  You will also enjoy a demonstration of the PRONI Historical Maps Viewer.

This session will last for two and a half hours, running from 11.00am to 1.30pm.

This is a free event however spaces are limited.
