Legal Academy

If you’re interested in a legal career in financial services, a training opportunity is now available. Successful completion of FinTru’s Legal Academy will provide an opportunity for you to receive practical, real world training and develop the core skills needed for new roles in FinTrU's Derry/Londonderry or Belfast offices.

Training

The FinTru Legal Academy is a five-week hyper focused online training course delivered in partnership with Queens University Belfast, Ulster University and Belfast Metropolitan College under the Assured Skills programme. You will be paid an allowance of £155 per week.

If you are selected for the Academy you will receive practical, real world training in the following areas:

  • Professional Skills
  • Legal Negotiations
  • Derivatives Products
  • Derivatives Trading Agreements
  • Financial Markets Regulation
  • Securities Lending

The academy offers a general introduction to financial markets with emphasis on derivatives products, securities lending, and repo. If you successfully complete the academy, you’ll gain a solid foundation for understanding the relevant master agreements and will be provided with a contextual understanding of financial markets regulation and key issues. You will have the opportunity to study for the level 1 of the Investment Operating Certificate (IOC) through CISI.

There are 20 to 23 training opportunities available. If you successfully complete the Academy you will be guaranteed an interview for a permanent role within FinTrU.

Who can apply

No previous experience is needed but you must:

  • be eligible to work full time in the UK
  • hold at least a 2.2 degree before commencement of training

Legal and language graduates would be preferable, however applications from those with degrees in other disciplines with an interest in these areas will also be considered.

FinTrU reserve the right to apply additional shortlisting criteria during the recruitment process such as degree relevance and work experience.

How to apply

As part of the application process you'll need to answer all questions.
