From Ireland to India - Women of Change

To mark International Women's Day, PRONI hosted an afternoon event which explored the role of Irish women in India. This took place on 8 March 2017.

This event at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) explores how different Irish women boldly contributed to change in India.

A woman like Padraic Pearse

Malachi O’Doherty, Freelance Writer and Broadcaster will talk about the life and work of Margaret Noble. Born into a Methodist family in Dungannon in 1867, Margaret Noble became a revolutionary nationalist in India.

Amy Carmichael – groundbreaker

Iain Webster, Director/Owner at Network Media Television will talk about the making of the BBC Northern Ireland Groundbreakers documentary looking at the life and work of the Irish missionary, Amy Carmichael.

History of women in law, Ireland and Britain

Presentation by Liz Goldthorpe.
