The Civil Rights Movement and the role of the IRA
PRONI was delighted to welcome journalist, author and broadcaster, Malachi O’Doherty, for a presentation that explores the changing nature of the Civil Rights movement in Northern Ireland over the past 50 years. The event took place on 13 November 2019.
The talk expands on research findings from Malachi’s latest book, ‘Fifty Years On: The Troubles and the struggle for change in Northern Ireland’ (published August 2019). The book will be available on the day. It has a collection of essays on themes about the Civil Rights Movement, gay rights, abortion law, Brexit, secularization, policing, the evolution of republicanism, feminism and the Irish language.
