Boiler replacement scheme launched

A scheme to replace old, inefficient boilers has been launched. Owner occupiers earning less than £40,000 who have a boiler at least 15 years old can apply to have it replaced. Up to £1,000 can be granted towards the replacement. If eligible you can apply now for the scheme, which is only available in Northern Ireland.

How to apply

The grant is dependent on total gross income. It is available to assist in either:

  • replacing an inefficient boiler for a more energy-efficient condensing oil or gas boiler
  • switching from oil to gas; or
  • switching to a wood pellet boiler

You can find out more about the allowance at the page below:

If you think you may be eligible to apply for the allowance, you can register now by:

Getting a boiler installed

Homeowners can begin to make enquiries about the type of new boiler they would like to have installed and book ahead with a local installer, so that they can get the work done as quickly as possible.

Any installer can be used, as long as they are 'gas safe' registered for gas installations.

Replacing old boilers will help people reduce their energy costs and maximise the energy efficiency of their homes.
