Get traffic information through Twitter and text messages
There are now a number of new ways people can access information about traffic flow on Northern Ireland roads. From today, Roads Service’s TrafficwatchNI website is providing updates through Twitter and SMS text messaging. People are encouraged to register for this text service or follow the TrafficwatchNI account on Twitter.
Reliable traffic updates
The new twitter and text messaging services will enable information on any abnormal traffic conditions to be sent directly to mobile telephones, tablet computers and other portable devices.
The updates will provide reliable, credible and timely traffic information, allowing roads users to make informed decisions about their journey.
People receiving the information are reminded they have to comply with the law regarding the use of handheld devices when driving.

On the TrafficwatchNI website people can access real time traffic news and information, CCTV traffic monitoring cameras, information on planned roadworks and the winter service and emergency news page.
