Check your passport before booking a holiday
26 Jan 2012
Some people are either thinking about or have already booked a holiday abroad for later this year. If you’re planning a trip away, whether it's a city break or longer journey, make sure you check that your passport won’t be out of date.
Don’t miss your trip
As well as booking flights and accommodation, you need to ensure now that your passport will be valid at time of travel. Otherwise, you risk missing out on your trip.
Renewing or getting a new passport now will help you avoid unnecessary worry and expense. Even if you still have up to six months validity left, you should consider re-applying. This will be added to your new passport.
You can find out more about renewing your passport at the pages below:
- Renewing or extending your adult passport (travel, transport and roads section)
- Replace or apply for a passport (do it online section)
If you need to apply for an adult passport for the first time, be mindful that the process can take around six weeks due to enhanced security checks and face-to-face interviews.
- Applying for your first adult passport (travel, transport and roads section)
- Applying for a new or renewed child passport (travel, transport and roads section)
Don't run the even worse risk of losing your holiday.
