The Department of Education does not provide funding to youth organisations directly. However, it provides funding to the Education and Library Boards and to the Youth Council, which is then distributed to youth organisations.
Voluntary youth organisations can register with and apply for funding via their local Education and Library Board.
Regional Voluntary Youth Organisations can apply for grant aid towards their administration via the Youth Council. The Youth Council launched its new 'Young People Focused Regional Voluntary Youth Organisation funding policy in October 2008. This policy will be in effect from 1 April 2009.
Further information on this can be found on the Youth Council website.
A youth information website caters for the needs of young people aged 15-25. It offers information on a wide range of issues from sexual health and suicide, to how to apply for your driving licence. You can also use the site to find out more information about the youth services that are available in your area.
The project is funded by the Department of Education, managed by the Western Education and Library Board (WELB) and is partnered with the NEELB, SELB, SEELB, YouthNet, Youth council, Citizens Advice, Eurosdek and Eyrica.
