Applying for a birth certificate video transcript

OK, you’re applying for a passport. Maybe you’re getting married. Perhaps you want to set up an investment policy. Chances are you'll need a copy of your birth certificate.

… but you’ve mislaid it … can’t find it anywhere … searched the house up and down! Or maybe you’re doing family research and would like a copy of your grandmother’s birth certificate.  Where are you going to find that?

Don’t worry. If you, or the person whose birth certificate you need, were born in Northern Ireland after 1864, you can apply for a copy of the birth certificate online.

To pay for the certificate you will need a credit or debit card. Here are the ones which we accept: Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Visa Electron, Switch and Solo.

And here’s what you need to do.

Click on the Order a birth certificate do it online button.

Fill in the form – you will need to give your full name and the address to which the certificate will be posted.

Then you will need the full name and birth details of the person whose certificate you are requesting.

The father’s and mother’s names and the mother’s maiden name and address at the time of birth.

And you’ll need to know whether the person was adopted.

Make sure you fill in all the areas of the form marked with an asterisk.

Select the number of copies you need, whether you want a long or short version and whether you want a priority service which will cost you more.

Then you can proceed to the payment page and place your order.

There. Simple as that!
