Energy efficient homes

The Energy Efficiency Homes scheme is a rate relief which came into effect on 1 April 2010. It aims to encourage home owners to bring their home up to modern standards of insulation.

What is the Energy Efficiency Homes scheme?

The Energy Efficiency Homes scheme is managed by the Energy Saving Trust on behalf of Land & Property Services (LPS). It provides a one-off reduction in rates to home-owners who install cavity wall insulation and / or loft insulation in their home to the required standards. Reductions include:

  • if you spend £300 or more on cavity wall insulation, you could receive a reduction in your rates of £150
  • if you spend £300 or more on loft insulation, your rates will be reduced by £150 and if you spend between £100 and £299.99, the rates reduction will be £75
  • if you carry out both works, you could receive a reduction of up to £300
