Industrial Death Benefit

Industrial Death Benefit is a taxable benefit payable to widows or widowers, whose husbands or wives died before 11 April 1988 as a result of an industrial accident or industrial disease. An allowance can also be paid for dependant children.

Who is entitled?

Widows or widowers whose husbands or wives died before 11 April 1988 as a result of an industrial accident or industrial disease.

An allowance can also be paid for dependant children.

How much is paid?

Industrial Death Benefit is payable at one of two different rates which is dependent upon the widow or widower's age when widowed.

An age addition at 80 years can also be paid providing that one is not being paid with any other Social Security Benefit.

Industrial Death Benefit can be payable in addition to other benefits based on the widow's own contributions, for example, State Pension and Incapacity Benefit, providing the accident occurred before 11 April 1988.
