I still haven't got a plan - I think I should do something

The best time to start preparing for the future is today. Here are two simple steps to get you started.

Step 1: Find out about your State Pension.

Most people get a State Pension, but the amount they get varies. In 2011-2012, the full basic State Pension for a single person is £102.15 per week. You may also get an additional State Pension.

Step 2: Decide whether to save for yourself – and how.

There's no perfect way to save for retirement. But if you think you need to put something away yourself, there are plenty of savings options to choose from.

You may have heard the the State Pension is to be scrapped or reduced and there'll be nothing by the time you retire. This is not the case - there are no plans to scrap or reduce the State Pension. In fact, it's changing to make sure that more people get more State Pension in future.
