Pay your rates by standing order, telephone and internet banking
You can now pay your rates by standing order, as well as using telephone or internet banking.
Standing order
You can get your bank or building society to set up a standing order from your account to pay your rates. The payment should be made to the Land & Property Services (LPS) Rates Giro Account as follows;
- sort code 95-01-21 (Northern Bank)
- bank account number 71063200
If you are sending a payment from abroad, the reference numbers for International or same day sterling payments (IBAN, CHAPS, BIC, Swift Code etc)

You must quote the full 16 digit reference number which is made up from your Account ID and Ratepayer ID and can be found at the top right-hand corner of your rate bill. Include the zeros at the beginning with no spaces or dashes, for example 0123456789105568.
You should be aware that a standing order has to be renewed each year, unlike a direct debit which runs continuously until cancelled.
Faster Payments Scheme
The LPS bank account is with Northern Bank who are part of the Faster Payments scheme. If your bank participates in the Faster Payments scheme you will be able to make faster payments to LPS through your telephone or internet banking. You should contact your own bank for more details of this scheme.
Telephone and internet banking
If your bank or building society offers telephone and / or internet banking, you can pay your rates using these methods. You should use the bank account details given above in the Standing Order section.

Single payment
If you pay your rate bill in one single payment, before the discount date shown on your bill, you will receive a four per cent discount. You should allow five working days for any payment to reach LPS.
