Disability Sports NI (DSNI)

Disability Sports NI (DSNI) is Northern Ireland's main disability sports organisation and is representative of the vast majority of Northern Ireland's disability sports club's and organisations.

DSNI was established in 1997 to tackle the under-representation of people with disabilities in sport. It works to promote equality of opportunity for people with disabilities to take part in and enjoy sport and physical activity at a level of their choice.

Disability Sports NI is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status.

Sport NI

Sport Northern Ireland is the lead agency for the development of sport in Northern Ireland. It is dedicated to developing people in sport, especially young people, and providing facilities for people of every age group and ability to be able to participate, enjoy and perform sport and physical activity.

Sport Northern Ireland believes that sport and physical recreation is for everyone - no matter what age, gender or ability. The benefits of an active lifestyle should be fully embraced and enjoyed by all.

Parasport

Deloitte Parasport is a web-based programme for people with disabiliies - and anyone interested in disability sport. It aims to provide opportunities, information and support for finding out what is possible and how to get involved in sport.

London 2012

Government sports initiatives

If you want to find out about government funding, plans and initiatives in relation to sport, visit the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL) website.

Government wants to make sure that the number of disabled people in sport increases across the board - whether as a participant, trainer or administrator.
