I made the call

Here are some people who have made the call and are benefiting.

Mary, 66 from Ballymena is widowed, lives in her own home but has mobility problems. She made the call.

Mary is 66 and lives in her own home in Ballymena. She has recently been widowed and didn’t realise that her change in circumstances meant the benefits she was entitled to could change. Mary was already getting State Pension Credit worth £23.94 each week, she owns her home and received full Housing Benefit for rates. When Mary called for her benefit check, recommendations for Attendance Allowance and a review of her State Pension Credit were made. An adviser called to see Mary at her home and helped her complete the application forms.

Now…

As a result she was awarded Attendance Allowance of £71.40 and an increase in her State Pension Credit of £53.65 every week. This meant that she received an extra £125.05 each week.

Peggy and Jim are in their 70s and have disabilities. They were missing out on extra money until they made the call.

Peggy and Jim are a married couple in their 70s from Belfast and living with disabilities. Jim received Disability Living Allowance, they each received their Basic State Pension and Housing Benefit totalling £225.14 per week. A full benefit check was completed with Peggy and Jim and they were recommended to make applications for Attendance Allowance and State Pension Credit.

Now…

Once they completed their paperwork and sent it off, their income rose each week by £65.80, made up of State Pension Credit of £18 and £47.80 in Attendance Allowance. Now they are also eligible for a Warm Homes Grant to help them with heating and insulating their home for the winter.

Tommy is 84 he was getting his State Pension and an occupational pension, with income from his land and savings too, but he made the call and now gets some more.

Tommy, 84, lives in Ards and is a widower. He was already getting both State and Occupational Pensions and high rate Attendance Allowance, to help him live with his disabilities. Tommy also had income in the form of Single Farm Payment, from renting out farm land and had savings of £11,000.

Now…

After his benefit check Tommy submitted his applications for State Pension Credit and Rate Relief and is now better of by £23.53 every week.
