Trusts - question 4 on forms IHT205 and C5
This guide answers common questions about trusts on the Inheritance Tax ‘Return of Estate Information’ forms IHT205 and C5.
Trusts - question 4
This question is only relevant if the deceased benefited personally from assets held in an ‘interest in possession’ trust. In this case, the estate will only be an excepted estate if both of the following apply:
- the value of the assets in the trust was less than £150,000
- the deceased only benefited from a single trust
If the deceased didn’t have a trust, or if the trust they benefited from wasn't an 'interest in possession trust’, you can answer ‘no’ to this question and move on.
