Gortin Glen Forest Park
Gortin Glen Forest Park is situated six miles north of Omagh at the western gateway to the Sperrin mountains.
Activities
The Ulster Way passes through part of the forest. Mountain biking is permitted in a specified part of the forest. There is also a youth camp site.
A major recreational feature of the forest is the five mile long drive which offers some breathtaking views. A number of vista parks have been created where the motorist can pull in to enjoy the magnificent scenery.
During extreme weather in winter months, it may be necessary to close the scenic drive.
There are waymarked trails, an enclosed deer herd and horse riding facilities.
To arrange a special event or activity in this forest, you should apply in the first instance to the Recreation Manager, Forest Service NI at Inishkeen House.
Such activities may include sporting events or educational visits.
There may be restrictions on access to parts of our forests from time to time to facilitate forest operations. Please adhere to safety signage which will be posted for your safety.
The Forest is open every day from 10 00 am until sunset.
Camping
Gortin Glen Forest Park offers basic camping for youth organisations. This campsite has no toilet or washing facilities on site. All camping is by prior arrangement with the Forester in charge.

About this forest
This forest was originally planted solely for timber production. The forest park opened in 1967, embracing some 1,534 hectares of ground. It was the first forest park to be established in a purely coniferous woodland.
How to get there
This forest is situated on main B48 road between Gortin and Omagh.
