The Fews Forest
The Fews Forest is a large conifer plantation of over 1,000 hectares, divided into three dozen or more individual forest blocks and bisected by numerous public roads.
There are no way-marked trails in this forest but there is a sign-posted panoramic viewpoint with a few car parking spaces for casual visitors.
Occasionally there may be restricted access to parts of the forests during work or other forest operations. Please adhere to safety signage which will be posted for your safety.
The viewpoint and its access road are open daily from 8.00 am until sunset.
About this forest
From this vantage point, on a clear day, there are good views across the south Armagh countryside towards Dundalk and elsewhere in County Louth.
How to get there
From Armagh follow the A3 Monaghan Road for about half a mile. Turn left onto the A29 Keady Road. Travel this road for almost one mile. Turn left onto the B31 Newtownhamilton Road.
From Newry take the A25 Newtownhamilton Road off the A1 Newry by-pass.
