Horse riding in forests

Northern Ireland's forests offer a variety of horse riding opportunities. Designated trails have been established in some forest areas and other forests may be available for special events.

Designated forests

Designated forests contain several miles of gravelled roads and trails free from the noise and fumes associated with public roads. Parking is available for horseboxes at some designated trails. Please ensure that the car park area is left clean on departure.

How to obtain a permit

For Day Permits and Riding Clubs wishing to hold special events, please contact the Forest Office associated with the forest you wish to visit, listed below.

Annual Permits may be purchased from any of the main Forest Offices.
