The lakes have been designed as a feature of the large city park with provisions for boating and other forms of water recreation.

Disabled Facilities

A level tarmac from the Water Sports Centre car park runs round the lake. Angling from wheelchairs is possible around the harbour area but the path is not close enough to the waters edge elsewhere. Access for those with walking difficulties is good.

The water holds good stocks of fish, but as it is man made and very uniform in depth, there are a few underwater features where shoals naturally gather. It is also weedy and is not therefore attractive as a match fishery. There are good-sized pike, but due to lack of underwater features these can be difficult to locate.

From Belfast by the M1 to the A76 head towards Lurgan, Craigavon. Turn towards Lurgan for 0.8 km and take a right turn by the A3 for 1.2 km to the Tannaghmore Gardens roundabout. Then take the road from the Tannaghmore Gardens roundabout to Portadown and turn off at roundabout No.3 on the Lurgan to Portadown road into the car-park.
