The Charity Commission
The Charity Commission is responsible for ensuring Northern Ireland has a dynamic and well governed charities sector, in which the public can have confidence. In meeting this responsibility, the Commission works towards six main aims:
- increasing public trust in charities
- promoting awareness and understanding of the operation of the public benefit requirement
- promoting compliance by charity trustees with their legal obligations in exercising control and management of the administration of their charities
- promoting the effective use of charitable resources
- enhancing the accountability of charities to donors, beneficiaries and the public
- managing the Commission as an effective and efficient non-departmental public body
