Built heritage schools competition rules

If you are going to submit an entry, here are the rules for the built heritage schools competition "Opening Doors to the Future".

Rules

1. The competition is open to schoolchildren in Northern Ireland (primary and post-primary) who submit an application form and a maximum of five photographs for one or more of the listed awards.

2. No purchase is necessary. There is no charge to enter the competition.

3. All entries must compile an application form and a maximum of five photographs. Photographs submitted electronically must be approximately 1024 x 768 pixels in dimension and 100kb in size. PDF, JPG, PNG or TIFF files will be accepted. Additional materials such as a photo diary or a blog can also be submitted to support your application.

4. All entries may be freely used by the organisers and promoters for the purposes of publicity and exhibition. Photographs submitted may be displayed at the Built Heritage Conference which will be hld on 20 April 2012 in Market Place Theatre in Armagh and on the organisers’ websites. It is the responsibility of the school to obtain parental consent forms for any child under the age of 16 years that features in the photographic material submitted.

5. Entries cannot be returned.

6. The closing date for entries has been extended to 12 Noon on 16 March 2012.

7. The organiser and promoter accept no responsibility for entries lost, damaged, delayed or unreadable.

8. The original source of the digital file (if applicable) must be available for inspection upon request.

9. Entries will be judged by a panel of heritage professionals. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

10. Winners and runners up will be notified by phone or by post in advance of the Built Heritage Conference. The winner and two runners up from each age group will be invited to attend the conference. The winners will be asked to give a short presentation on their project. It is up to finalists to arrange transport to the venue for the conference.

11. The prize remains the property of DOE until a winner is notified in writing and the winner has accepted the prize. DOE reserve the right to substitute the prize for one of their choosing which has a value the same or greater than the original prize, in the event of circumstances outside its control. There is no cash alternative to this prize. The prize is subject to availability and change.

12. A winner who is unable to accept the prize may nominate a teacher or friend to accept the prize on their behalf, upon prior agreement from competition promoters.
