Ecolabels
The European Ecolabel helps you choose items that – throughout their lifetime – are less harmful to the environment than other similar products. You can find the label on products from household cleaners to fridges, as well as services like holiday accommodation.

What is the European Ecolabel?
The European Ecolabel is also known as the EU Ecolabel or the 'Flower'. It is used throughout Europe, and is given to non-food products and services that are kinder to the environment than other similar products.
A product is independently assessed to see if it meets strict rules. These rules cover many different environmental concerns, including:
- the amount of natural resources (like water) and energy a product uses
- the chemicals it contains
- whether it pollutes air, water or soil
- whether it can be recycled
During the assessment, every stage of the product’s life is looked at, from the way it’s made to what happens after it's disposed of. Overall, the standards of the scheme are high, and products carrying the Ecolabel are among the greenest on the market.
