To avoid spreading the virus, people who think they have swine flu should stay at home and take simple measures to alleviate symptoms, and if they still are concerned, contact their GP. These are the current arrangements in Northern Ireland.
The doctor out of hours service is there for people who need urgent medical treatment that they would normally receive from their GP - but who cannot wait until the practice is opened the next day.
