How to use this service
When a ratepayer has died, you can contact LPS using an online form to notify them of the death.
From 1 October 2011, empty property rates are now payable on all empty domestic properties with a rateable capital value of £20,000 or more. However, an exclusion to empty property rates may be awarded where the owner of the property is the personal representative of a deceased person. If a ratepayer aged 70 or over is living alone, with a carer or others, then they may be entitled to a 20 per cent reduction in their rates. Further information on Lone Pensioner Allowance is available through the following link:
When a ratepayer dies and they have been receiving help with paying rates then it may be necessary for someone who is still living in the property to make a new claim
