You can contact Land & Property Services (LPS) to ask for the assessment period for your rate account to be updated.

How to use this service

You can use an online form to ask for the rate assessment period to be updated. You may need to do this where the date of sale or date of purchase are different to the dates reflected on your rate account.

Changing the assessment period of your rate account may alter the amount of rates to be paid by you, or a previous or subsequent ratepayer.

Please note that since the introduction of the Rating of Empty Homes on 1 October 2011, empty property rates are now payable on empty domestic properties with a rateable capital value of £20,000 or more. You can find out more about empty property rates using the following link:
