Bridge to Employment for Jobseekers
Bridge to Employment (Bridge) is a pre-employment training programme that helps people aged 18 and over to find a job if they are unemployed - whatever their experience of work.
Bridge to Employment programme
The programme provides suitable training and if you successfully complete the training programme you will be interviewed by the company with a view to being offered employment.
When in training you:
- will retain your benefits
- will be reimbursed weekly travel expenses, limited to the cheapest cost of using public transport
- may be eligible for child care allowance
- may be eligible to receive a lodging allowance depending on where you live

How do I get on the programme?
Eligibilty
You can apply to go on a Bridge programme if you are unemployed. You do not have to be in receipt of benefits. If you work under 16 hours a week you can also apply for Bridge.

Application forms can be obtained from your local Jobs & Benefits Office or downloaded from Jobcentreonline website for the particular Bridge to Employment vacancy.

Bridge to Employment opportunities are advertised in a variety of places which include:

You will be asked to complete an application form and return it to the Jobs and Benefits office/JobCentre on or before the specified closing date.
If eligible you will be invited to the next stage of the recruitment process which will either be an aptitude test or course interview
Qualifications
Generally there are no qualifications required to apply for a bridge programme, however some participating companies may set a minimum essential criteria.
