Apply for a vehicle identity check (VIC)
Form VIC1 is used to confirm that a vehicle being returned to the road has been repaired following accident damage and has not been stolen.
The Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) carry out VIC tests at their test centres in Lisburn and Londonderry only. The aim of VIC is to check the identity of vehicles, for which DVA have received “write off” notification from an insurer prior to re-issuing the V5C (NI).
The purpose of the check is to ensure as far as possible, within the limitations of the check, that the vehicle is what it purports to be and not a substitute vehicle.
